Writing Center Interviews
As part of my ongoing work of developing the UA Writing Center, I am working to create a content-rich website: not just a marker identifying the Center’s hours and location, but a tool that you can use to improve your writing skills.
As part of this effort, I recently visited with several faculty from across the disciplines about the subject of writing. I spoke with them about what they see as important in good writing, and what they can’t stand; what they wish you, their students, would do more of, and what they wish you would do less of; how their disciplines understand and value good writing; and even their own personal experiences with writing.
These interviews are now available and I encourage you to give them a listen. As you listen, take a moment to think about what it means to write in your chosen field of study, and how different fields of study understand what it means to write well.
If you have any comments or questions, please e-mail me at lpniiler@ua.edu. Thanks for listening!
